Bastions of warfarin: its place among oral anticoagulants
AbstractAnticoagulants are widely used in modern medicine for the prevention of thrombotic and thromboembolic complications. The first drug of this group was warfarin per os. Currently there are a lot of drugs of the new generation, but in many cases, warfarin is still the drug of choice. In particular this applies to patients with valvular atrial fibrillation and severe chronic renal disease. In addition for patients who taking warfarin for a long time with stable therapeutic effect, its replacement should be considered as unnecessary.
