Modern problems of surgical treatment of chronic heart failure in elderly and senile patients with postinfarction aneurysm of the left ventricle

Abstract

Postinfarction aneurysm of the left ventricle is one of the most severe transmural Q-myocardial infarction complications, which can cause early refractory heart failure, persistent ventricular arrhythmias, arterial embolisms, leading to early disability of patients.

Modern surgical methods make it possible to effectively treat chronic heart failure in patients with postinfarction aneurysm of the left ventricle. However, in elderly and senile patients, due to changes in the compensatory mechanisms of intracardiac hemodynamics, myocardial metabolism in general, as well as due to the presence of various organs and systems concomitant diseases, the risk of complications affecting the outcome of treatment increases. At the moment, several options for postinfarction left ventricular aneurysm plasty have been developed and implemented in cardiac surgery practice, but there is no algorithm and recommendations for their use in various clinical situations in elderly and senile patients.

Thus, modern problems of surgical treatment of this pathology in elderly and senile patients deserve closer attention and consideration.
