Clinical cases of atrial myxoma
AbstractMyxoma is the most common (80%) of the heart tumors, which is benign. More often it is represented by a large smooth spherical formation, with an heterogeneous structure and different intensity of the T1-signal on magnetic resonance imaging. Atrial myxoma is attached to the atrial septum and it is more often found in the left atrium than in the right one, while it can prolapse from the atrium into the ventricle, causing acute mitral stenosis and shock.
This article presents two clinical cases of atrial myxoma, which was detected in patients treated at the third cardiology department of the Alexander Hospital.
