Anticoagulant therapy in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation from a security perspective

Abstract

In the article analysis of current data on the possibility of anticoagulants administration in elderly patients is represented. Age is a proven risk factor for a wide range of diseases that are often combined with one another in one patient. It is known that comorbidity is inevitably accompanied by an increased likelihood of both thrombotic and hemorrhagic complications formation. The results of a wide range of studies have established the effectiveness of rivaroxaban in prophylaxis and treatment of arterial and venous thrombosis in comorbid patients of different age groups. In addition, the obtained data on this anticoagulant safety in elderly patients allows us to enlarge the domain of its usage in real clinical science.
