Atrial fibrillation, heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: mechanisms of cross influence

AbstractIt's a well-known fact that cardiovascular diseases (CD) often accompany obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) occurrence. The coexistence of CD and night breathing disorders has a negative impact on objective status, life quality and prognosis in patients. The connection between CD and OSAS has been profoundly studied but there are several questions which are still unclear. In this review of literature we will examine the connection between atrial fibrillation, heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea and analyze the peculiarities of the patients, suffering from all three diseases.
